will those spammers ever stop?

spammers in hell
i opened up my email account today and was welcomed with a new style of spam letter. ususaly i would just immediately delete them but something caught my eye with it and i had to see what all the fuss was about. perhaps it was the title, or perhaps i was looking for something to blog about, not entirely sure. i certainly don't saeed ahmed but he has a story to tell and this is it:

Dear Friend,

My name is Saeed Ahmed a merchant in Dubai, in the U.A.E. I have been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. It has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only
about a few months to live, according to medical experts.

I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone(not even myself)but my business. Though I am very rich, I was never generous,I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world.

I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul so, I have decided to give also to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, Algeria and Malaysia. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore.

I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria and Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I
have left for them.

The last of my money which no one knows of is the huge cash deposit of Eighteen Million Dollars $18,000,000,00 in side two boxes that I have with a Finance/Security Company Abroad. I will want you to Act as my Beneficiary who will help me contact the security finance company on my behalf to discuss the terms and condition of getting this deposit out from thier custody and also helping me to dispatch it to the charity organisations.

Reply to this email with your full names, contact address, tel number and fax to enable me ask my doctors lawyer to arrange for you a power of attorney that will give you full legal backing as my beneficiary.

I have set aside 30% for you and for your time.

Please kindly reply to my most confidential email if you are really interested in helping me please:

saeedahmed321@yahoo.co.uk

God be with you.

Saeed Ahmed

apparently i am his lucky friend and with god on my side, i will be inheriting some of 18 000 000 million dollars soon. this would have to be one of the classiest spam letters i have ever seen. gone are the days of people telling me that me penis is too small and that it would stand up better if i used their product, now they are enticing us with claims of millions of dollars!

in fear of crashing every server in the northern hemispere, i dare not open it. needless to say i am so curious to find out what would happen if i reply to that email address. is saeed going to come over to my house for a cup of tea? maybe his kids and my kids could play in our jointly owned money pit somewhere in a dessert oasis? or maybe we could just buy our way into heaven? thanks saeed, but i just couldn't handle that much cash.

Very old con, going back over a 100 years.
Originally started as the imprisoned Spanish nobel.
Pay his ransom and you will be showered with money.

According to 60 minutes report Queenslander are the most stupid ans several people have been caught multiple times.
So yes it works.

Yes I saw that feature and how they "scam baited" the Nigerians. Damo I wouldn't use 60 minutes content as a reliable reference for generalisations like that....

In my experience, its financially comfortable, altruistic people who haven't ever been exposed to social engineering attacks (scams or hacks...like encouraging you to login to your bank website to update your login details) that get caught. Usually older...and havent had exposure to great resources like the 'net to learn the good bad and the ugly.

Wouldn't say they are stupid, considering they usually have a great lifestyle.

Jonathon,

Mine was some African person who had some foreclosure or something (wasn't really paying attention) and I was getting all his money.

The other one - last week - was from Ireland and was informing I had won the Irish Lottery! Hundreds of thousands of dollars is just waiting for me in a bank account in Ireland, ready to transfer to my bank account here in Australia...when I give it to them... I'd better hurry up?

Gee, I'd be pissed if this was real, wouldn't you? *lol* but I'm jealous because I didn't get pictures, just text...

Great Post!

Lilla ...

Ahmed, (if I may Jonathon) ...

... please pass on the details of this 'trick,' if it succeeds in stopping this type of mail.

Cheers,

I do love these scams. So obvious. I just kept getting the ones that needed to do international transfers and needed my bank account to help. In return I think I was supposed to make about $100,000. Seemed like a great opportunity, so I gave them my bank account details, my netbanking passwords and usernumbers. But they seemed pretty good people. I'm pretty sure they weren't conning me......were they???

ahmed,

__saeedahmed@bellsouth.net

let me know how it goes.

lilla,

i didn't think the words 'irish' and 'lottery' went together in the same sentence? i'm surprised they didn't include something about april fool's day since they were being that obvious.

kyliew,

i reckon you should be getting that cash any day now. in fact have you checked your account today? when it comes through, i'll meet you in rio somewhere? i should have my cash by then.

It has defiled all forms of medical treatment

That's some cancer, defiling medical treatment rather than just defying it...

Honestly, I amazed that people still fall for this stuff. It's sad that people are either that greedy or that silly.

hey nina,

it's sad but money is like a drug to some people, and when most people don't have it, they really want it. it's a shame that there are people out there like this feeding off other peoples misfortunes, or possibly ignorance.

that is a mean mother cancer, i'm sure saeed is done for.

lmao oh these drive me nuts too... like Lilla says wouldn`t you be mad if the one in a million was actually true ... and was sent to your inbox....

although even if I did win the Lottery I would NEVER claim the prize.... always notice how the winner either ends up dying in their brand new car or worse off than they were before... yeah Id rather just play the Tortoise and Hare game and plod along like I am now

yeah i think any get rich quick thing can never have a good outcome. you always hear stories of those people that go on tv shows like 'the wheel of fortune', win heaps of cash, and then end up blowing it all and having some whooping great debt to sort out. i think good fortune only comes to those that can wield it, and that doesn't include contributions from saeed.
