top 20 film clips part 2

April 22nd 2007 13:44
so i had another day to assess the situation and these are my thoughts on the next 7 clips in the worlds greatest film clips....ever....

primus - mr krinkle

did someone say continuous shot? this would have been a production nightmare! all those performers, all taking their cues, imagine the rejoice when they nailed the final attempt? thanks les and co.

unkle - rabbit in your headlights

i don't know what it is absolutely about this one, i think it's the story that stirs something inside. or maybe it's the dodgy computer game style graphics when our character gets hit? maybe it's the tempo, completed by enlightenment. good though.

radiohead - karma police

there had to be one radiohead clip in there, and this is mine. i think i'm just a sucker for continuous long shots (ish) and jonathon glazer tickles my fancy with this one. i really appreciate the colour in this clip and like the climax - which is excellently played out with the fire/car chase thing..

nine inch nails - closer

again a farily obvious selection, but it just kept coming into my thoughts today. i think for something to stick into my head for years like this does, it must be good. it reminds me of when i was hanging out 1st year visual art students - 'we'll do anything for art!'

van halen - hot for teacher

in.u.endo!!! !this would have to be the first 'kidult' film clip, and if it's not it's clearly the best. and you can't go past some good david lee roth. surely he doesn't have a ball sack between his legs? mullets! neckerchiefs! home coming queens! it's got it all..along with some nice dollie work

david bowie - ashes to ashes

i think only david bowie could get away with these costumes - and using them in the same shot as a front end loader. again i love the colours, and the story between 'crazy' bowie and 'normal' bowie. classic and unforgetable.

prodigy - voodoo people

i think it is piss funny that these four dudes managed to pull themselves away from the scene at the time to go to an exotic location to film this clip! i also think it is piss funny that keif is packed into a suitcase. while i was searching for this clip, i found the remix by pendulum and the new clip to go with. it almost pushes this clip out.

agree?

OOh very impressive line up, I just need everyone to leave work for an hour or so so I can refresh my memory. Yes, I am a very busy girl.
The Aphex one with the dog was pretty damn freakie ( I think Rubber Johnny??) anything that insights some kind of physical reaction for me is all good.
What about the old classic 'Take on me" by A-HA, I mean Morten Harkett - HOT HOT HOT.
Hmmm what else can I muster, hmm I just got the new Kraftwerk DVD _ MY GOD these guys are brilliant very early German advertising. Totally cool. I think most is adapted from film clips, so I'd throw a couple of them in.

AHA - how could i forget! with that clever style of pencil over moving image. but what did car racing and kid napping have in common with 'take on me'? i'll never figure that out.

i'm not really well versed in kraftwerk's clips, but i can imagine. neon lights. keyboards. tron type effects. gold.
